There is a hiking group here in Tashkent, headed by a slightly eccentric man named Boris. I have signed up to receive invitations for their hikes, which take place on Sundays. I have been warned that Boris' hikes can be difficult and unpredictable, so I have only gone on one hike so far, one specifically described as 'easy.' It was absolutely wonderful. The mountain landscape is astonishing. I just wanted to eat it up. Unfortunately, a very very old knee injury re-introduced itself to me on the downhill bits. Before I go on my next hiking adventure, I'm going to have to re-think my equipment.
