The People of Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan, the country, is actually an artificial construct created by Stalin. The people of Uzbekistan self-identify as Uzbek, Tajik, Russian, Korean, etc. There are many languages spoken here. In Tashkent, Russian and Uzbek are the most common. The people I have met in this country are lovely and kind. In fact, I have heard a story about when North Koreans were forcibly moved to Uzbekistan in the 1940's. They arrived here, dazed and lost, and were immediately welcomed by the Uzbeks, who took them into their homes, sheltered and fed them, and taught them how to thrive in the different environment. Muslims and Christians live in harmony.
